Welcome to the Harmonium Community

Harmonium Choral Society, formed in 1979, has become one of New Jersey’s leading choral arts organizations, recognized for its musical excellence and innovative programming. Directed by Dr. Anne Matlack, the 100+ volunteer choir and 25-voice Chamber Singers are chosen through a selective audition process. We perform a broad choral repertoire with music from many cultures and time periods and have a commitment to commissioning new works. Our choir is multi-generational and includes high school and college age singers, teachers, IT professionals, artists, lawyers, and nurses, medical professionals to name a few. Many singers lead their own choirs in schools or at places of worship. Harmonium is a proud member of Chorus America, and NJ Choral Consortium.

Establishment of AV Fund

Harmonium’s board of directors and Louise Karger established the Dan Karger Audio Visual Fund in memory of her husband, Dan a longtime singer, whose love of Harmonium and fascination with anything technical helped conserve Harmonium’s music for many years. These dedicated funds will help Harmonium offset the cost of preserving our music at the highest quality for well into the future.
